Hanoi’s coronavirus situation is showing signs of improvement thanks to widespread vaccination coverage, the municipal health department said on Wednesday.
Tran Thi Nhi Ha, director of Hanoi’s Health Department, said the number of new daily cases in the city had declined over the past five days, from around 32,000 new cases on March 11 to 26,000 on March 11. March 16.
Only 1% of all Covid-19 patients need hospitalization while the rest are treated at home, she added.
Hanoi is also one of the best-performing localities when it comes to vaccination against Covid-19, Ha said. The capital has fully vaccinated 6.2 million people and given 3.8 million people their third Covid-19 vaccine.
However, Ha warned that people should remain vigilant even if the number of cases begins to drop.
“The city cannot afford to be lax. It must continue to improve medical capacity, encourage people to follow coronavirus prevention protocols and introduce solutions to protect the most vulnerable members of society like people. the elderly, children, people with underlying illnesses and those with weakened immune systems,” she said.
Hanoi is currently aiming to administer its third Covid-19 vaccine to its entire adult population this month. Once the Ministry of Health issues a guideline to vaccinate children between the ages of 5 and 12, Hanoi will follow immediately.
The city also continues to sequence coronavirus samples to detect and track new variants.
