National Ice Cream Day was created by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. Reagan wanted to commemorate a treat enjoyed by more than 90% of the American population, so he decreed a month and a day for ice cream, according to National Today.

Aglamesis will be offering free scoops of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream for all attendees from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oakley venue.

The ice cream and candy store will host events all day to celebrate National Ice Cream Day, including a French Quarter Bonanza Challenge in which participants must eat an eight scoop sundae in 30 minutes or less to get the sundaes for free. Successful challengers also receive a specially engraved Aglamesis glass and, of course, the fame and glory of conquering the feat. Aglamesis will also feature a “free ice cream for a year” raffle, free stickers, a flavor suggestion board and a first scoop contest where three people compete to see who can scoop the biggest ice cream cone. . The winner will receive a $50 gift card.

Graeter’s Ice Cream’s birthday happens to fall on National Ice Cream Day. Graeter’s will be giving away $1.52 cones on National Ice Cream Day (in honor of the brand’s 152nd anniversary). Dessert connoisseurs can download the Graeter’s app and redeem their $1.52 cone, just in time for the big day.

Although not technically a creamery, the bakery will be celebrating National Ice Cream Day all week. You can get a free scoop of ice cream with any purchase; use promo code ICECREAMDAY. This offer is valid for local and in-store delivery.

This local creamery will have three deals for National Ice Cream Day: BOGO kids cones from noon to 3 p.m., small $2 ice cream parlors from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and $3 sundaes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. h.

Although Schneider’s Sweets Shop is not offering any National Ice Cream Day specials, it will be releasing two mystery flavors in honor of the special occasion. This is in addition to its two monthly special flavors: Salted Caramel Chocolate Chunk and Peach. Details on mystery flavors have not been announced.

Sunny Blu Coffee & Ice Cream will receive 25% off handmade scoops of ice cream from noon to 5 p.m. at the Art Academy of Cincinnati storefront, located at 1212 Jackson Street.
